Safety & Privacy

Share bandwidth responsibly and protect your account and local data.

Before sharing a connection

Use a device and internet connection you are allowed to share. Check your network provider's terms and any workplace or school rules that apply to the connection.

AntGain uses bandwidth, processing power, storage, and battery while active. Monitor usage, especially on metered connections. You can stop the node when you need to pause sharing.

Network use

AntGain prohibits unlawful or abusive use, including malware, spam, phishing, fraud, and unauthorized intrusion. Network sharing still has risks, including possible effects on IP reputation.

If you notice a problem with your connection or suspect abuse, stop the node if needed and contact support@antgain.app. Include a description of the issue without sharing private traffic details.

Local configuration and credentials

Version 1.1.4 protects the contents of the local configuration file and updates older supported configuration automatically when it is loaded. Keep the same data directory or Docker volume when upgrading.

Treat configuration files as sensitive. Local protection does not make a file safe to share or replace the security of your device account. Someone with access to your device may still be able to access your credentials and data.

Do not edit protected file contents or delete configuration to fix a connection problem. An older app version may not support newer configuration; keep your data and ask support before downgrading if compatibility is unclear.

Desktop and CLI can save an API key for later launches. Logout removes the saved key. Docker gets its key from the container environment, so keep the environment file private and limit who can administer the container.

Logs and support diagnostics

Logs and screenshots can contain personal information, login details, and device information. Review them before sending them to support, posting them publicly, or uploading them to an AI service. Remove API keys, passwords, sign-in links, personal email addresses, and any other private details.

Desktop users can start with AntGain not working? → Copy Diagnostics, which provides basic app and connection information without including the API key. Send a short, reviewed log excerpt only if more detail is needed. Do not send a complete configuration file, environment file, or log folder.

Stop sharing or sign out

  • Desktop: choose Stop Node to pause sharing, or Account → Logout to remove the saved API key.
  • CLI: use antgain stop or antgain logout as needed.
  • Docker: stop the container; change its environment and recreate it to change credentials.
  • Android: use the app's stop and logout controls.

Keep local data if you plan to use the node again. Purging data or clearing app data can remove credentials and device information.
