FAQs

Answers to common questions about installation, accounts, connection, and earnings.

Getting started

What is AntGain?

AntGain lets you share unused internet bandwidth from your devices. Install a client and connect a node when you want to participate. Start with Quick Start.

Which client should I use?

Use Desktop for a personal computer with a tray menu, CLI for terminal use, Docker for a container host, or Android for a supported mobile device. Check the download page for packages currently available for your platform.

Can I run several devices?

Give each node its own data directory or Docker volume. Do not copy one active node's data into another installation. Adding devices does not guarantee more traffic or earnings. For a large fleet, visit Providers.

Signing in

Do I need browser sign-in every time on desktop?

After the first successful browser sign-in, desktop saves your API key and uses it on later launches. Stop and quit preserve it; Account → Logout removes it and requires browser sign-in next time.

How do I sign in on CLI, Docker, or Android?

Obtain an API key from Account Settings and follow the guide for your client. Android accepts the key in the app; it does not automatically open the desktop browser sign-in flow.

Is Stop Node the same as Logout?

Stop ends sharing and preserves sign-in details. Logout removes the saved API key. An exported shell key or Docker environment key remains until you unset, replace, or update it.

Why does a device belong to another account after switching accounts?

Check that you signed out of the previous account and signed in to the intended one. Wait for the node to reconnect. If the message continues, contact support and keep your local data. See Signing in.

Connection and updates

The app is running. Why is the node offline?

It may be stopped, connecting, or waiting for you to resolve an error. Check the status text, internet access, and error message. CLI users can run antgain health; Docker users can run docker exec antgain-node antgain health. See Devices and connections.

Should I open router ports or disable my firewall?

Start by checking ordinary internet access and the specific error. VPNs and network policies can affect connections. Avoid broad firewall changes or opening ports without instructions that apply to your setup.

Where are the logs?

Desktop users can choose AntGain not working? → Open Logs. CLI users can run antgain logs -n 100. Docker users can run docker logs --tail 100 antgain-node or use Docker diagnostic commands.

Does a pinned Docker image disable automatic updates?

No. The client inside the container can update automatically, including when the image uses a version tag. Set ANTGAIN_DOCKER_AUTO_UPDATE=0 to skip startup update checks. Manual and service updates remain available. See Docker updates.

Can I delete configuration to fix a problem?

Keep configuration when troubleshooting or upgrading. Deleting it can remove credentials and device information. If a file cannot be loaded, keep it and contact support. Older versions may not support newer configuration.

Earnings and account activity

Where can I see bandwidth and earnings?

Open your signed-in Dashboard. Desktop users can choose Open Dashboard in the tray menu; CLI users can also run antgain status.

Why does an online node have little or no earnings?

Traffic can vary, and a connected node may have periods without traffic. Online time does not guarantee income. Check the recorded usage in your account and see Rewards & Earnings.

Why do I see 0 bytes, no traffic, and no earnings for a few days?

A short period of 0 bytes, including the first few days after you install and connect, is normal. Earnings are recorded only after traffic is shared and recorded in your account. A connected node is available for demand; it is not given traffic the moment it comes online. Demand varies, so a newly installed node can show 0 bytes and no earnings for several days.

Confirm the node is connected, not stopped or reconnecting, and that the Dashboard is the same account signed in on that node. If the node stays connected and the total remains 0 bytes well beyond a short wait, see Rewards & Earnings or contact support@antgain.app with the app version. Do not include API keys or passwords.

What are the withdrawal and referral terms?

Use your signed-in account to view the options and terms available to you, including any eligibility requirements, limits, methods, or status.

Safety and support

Will AntGain affect my device or connection?

Sharing can use bandwidth, processing power, storage, and battery. Monitor usage if your plan has limits. Stop the node if sharing affects other tasks. Read Safety & Privacy before participating.

Can I send configuration files or full logs to support?

Do not send configuration or environment files. Start with the app version, operating system, and a description of the issue. Desktop users can use Copy Diagnostics. If you share a screenshot or short log excerpt, remove API keys, login details, and personal information first.

How do I get help?

Contact support@antgain.app with the app version, operating system, and the problem you are seeing. Keep passwords, API keys, payment details, and private sign-in links out of the message.
